About the Artist
Kevin Barletta has always been fascinated by both art
and nature. Because of these keen interests, it is very appealing to
him to take a piece of the natural world and put into a composition.
He hopes to inspire his audience to reflect on nature and its inhabitants.
His pieces for public display are primarily acrylic paintings, but he
also enjoys photography and working in pencil, pen and ink, and colored
pencil. Most of his actual work is done indoors, but he obviously does
a lot of research out of doors with a camera and sketchpad. This attention
to detail and extensive outdoor research has earned Kevin the title
of second place finisher in the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Working
Together For Wildlife 2004 Art Contest.
Kevin grew up in the Oil City area of Pennsylvania and graduated from
Penn State University in 1990. Despite his desire to be a full-time
artist, he felt he needed to make a living otherwise while pursuing
art in his spare time. He lived and worked in Lycoming County, PA, from
1991 to 2002. In mid-2002, Kevin and his wife, Lauri, relocated to Western
Pennsylvania, where he now works full-time on his art. They live with
their four-legged and furry "children" in Bethel Park, PA.
